Circular economy
For Celsa HUTA OSTROWIEC, waste management is an opportunity and a clear example of commitment to the circular economy. All activities in Celsa HUTA OSTROWIEC are developed according to these principles. Along these lines, various actions are carried out to promote more sustainable and positive development for the environment:
- The use of ferrous scrap as raw material. In the steel mill, the waste recycling process is developed to convert it back into a commercial product. This allows for lower energy costs and more sustainable and efficient development.
- Celsa HUTA OSTROWIEC products are eternally recyclable thanks to the properties of steel. This allows all manufactured products to return to the life cycle without the need to overexploit natural resources.
- Valorization and use of waste generated during the steel process. These generated materials are considered co-products due to their high intrinsic value. They have a high capacity to be used as secondary raw material for processes such as road construction or for reuse in the process of obtaining steel.
In Celsa HUTA OSTROWIEC we are circular. More than 95% of the materials we use in production are recycled, 100% of the products we generate are recyclable and we recover more than 90% of the waste generated by our production process.
We recirculate more than 600,000 tons of materials, including ferrous scrap, waste from our own production processes, and other non-ferrous metals. With this we avoid the accumulation of waste in landfills and once again obtain steel products of high value for society without the need to undermine natural resources.
“We believe in sustainable development that provides a better future for future generations.”
